Florida Seascape Painting, small oil painting, daily painting

I created this small seascape from my memories of the beautiful beaches that surround us here in the state of Florida.

SOLD
I painted with a brush and pallet knife to show texture in the waves rushing to shore and the sea oats rising above the protective dunes.

The more I travel, the more I am in awe of our beautiful world, including the beauty of my home states.  It is so easy to forget the beauty that surrounds you.  Take a moment today to find your beauty.

Thank you for reading my blog.

Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, Palette Knife Painting, "Evening Show" 6x12x.75" textured art

One of my favorite places to be when the sun goes down, is Eau Gallie Yacht Club.  I have seen the most beautiful sunsets from that location.  I always have my camera ready, and I often try to capture it in paint.

Of course, it is impossible to capture God's beauty in paint, at least for me.  This time I tried with a palette knife, using a technique that leaves a lot of texture on the painting, and also blends the colors in a subtle way.

Locals may recognize Dragon Point, just south of the Eau Gallie Causeway.

Today I leave for another three day workshop with Elio Comacho in Fernandina Beach.  Hopefully, I will have some new techniques to show you when I return.

Thanks for reading my blog today.

Florida Landscape | Daily Painting | Tropical Painting | Heading Home by Carol Schiff | 12x24" Original Oil Painting, SOLD

If this looks familiar to you.....it's because I have painted the scene before.  If fact, the first painting, which is smaller, was licensed and produced as wall decor on wood planks by Arthouse LLC.

SOLD

This is a view of the Indian River, part of the intra-coastal waterway in Florida, as viewed from Grant Florida.  It was late afternoon (just before sunset) on a gorgeous November day.  I took many photos and have painted about a dozen pieces from this one photo shoot.

I used a palette knife technique that I like to call "color weaving".  It gives lots of texture and soft changes of color.

Tropical Landscape, Palette Knife 8x10 Painting, SOLD

Recently, several of my paintings were reproduced on solid wood plank hand distressed panels by Artehouse LLC.  Imagine my surprise when I discovered that I have never posted this original artwork which is among those being marketed.

These palms, next to the intercoastal waterway on the east coast of Florida, are shown during the "golden hour".  Golden hour refers to that brief time when the setting sun bathes the landscape is a golden glow.

I tried to capture that glow in my painting, but it is a poor version of the glorious view I had that November afternoon.  Even photographs pale next to the real thing.

Florida Landscape, Daily Painting, "Sunlit Plams" by Carol Schiff, 10x8x.75" Oil

This is a scene I see everyday in Florida.  When the sun is low in the sky, the entire landscape is bathed in golden light.  An  uninteresting sight, like this clump of palm trees, takes center stage.

This is just one of the perks that art has brought to my life.....the ability to really see....to take notice of the beauty that surrounds me.  Not just the obvious like a glowing sunset or a beautiful flower garden, but the magic that can happen to a clump of palm trees that I have walked by day after day.
