Tropical Fish Painting, Small Oil Painting, Daily Painting, Palette Knife Painting

A few years ago, we visited the coral reef off Key Largo.  Although I get sea sick, when the boat is not under power, I still enjoyed seeing the colorful tropical fish, and of course, the trip out and back.

Beautiful turquoise waters, stunning landscapes, fabulous wildlife.....the perfect day.

I am enjoying these palette knife paintings immensely.  I have been so intense about my brush work, that I had ignored the palette knife for months.  Now that I am working with it again, I am enjoying the freedom it brings.

Mountain Landscape Painting, Misty Mountain Morning, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, 6x12" Oil Landscape

Mornings in Carolina are so special.

purchase here

One of my favorite ways to start the day, is sipping my coffee on the deck, while the morning mist burns off.  It is so peaceful....as if I am alone in the world.  Sounds are muted and I feel protected.

The Cherokee named it Nantahala, which means "land of the mid day sun".

Enjoy your day!

Daily Painting Small Oil Painting, Abstract Triptych, 6x18" "Ode to Blue"

Every now and then, I just have to do an abstract.  Usually painting knives are involved.  This one is no exception.   I wanted to take a square composition and turn it into a rectangle. This us what I came up with.

I have been in North Carolina, in the mountains for the past few weeks.  We are enjoying our time here.

The other day we went to the park and had a picnic lunch, something we never do at home.  There were ducks and geese everywhere.

We had a relaxing and fun time and our sandwiches tasted twice as good as usual.  The crisp fall weather comes and goes.  It is so much fun to be in the mountains this time of the year and I cannot wait for the fall color.   I will share with you when it comes.

When I work on the computer,  I can see chipmonks running back and forth, across the patio.  They are so fast, it is hard to get a photo, but I did manage to catch one stuffing his cheeks with goodies.

Have a great fall day, wherever you are.

Abstract Seascape Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, 6x8" Textured Art, SOLD

This small seascape is a study for a much larger piece.  The only question in my mind is "How large?"

SOLD
I am very happy with the understated color which makes the brighter hues really pop.  I am not sure if it would be call an abstract or impressionistic.......what do you think?

What I do know, I really enjoyed painting it and want to try it again and go BIG!

Small Abstract Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, Summer Dance Painting SOLD

I came back from a walk in the Blue Ridge Mountains, inspired by the bright summer colors.  Flowers were evident around every turn.

SOLD

I love abstract, but find them very difficult.  I have to have a starting point, some type of inspiration, some plan of composition.  Often I end of scraping off hours of work.

This is one of the few that appeals to me.  I felt good about it and still think it conveys the emotions I was feeling at the time.  I mark this one as a success for me.

Expressionist Abstract Seascape, Sunset Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, Free Shipping in USA

For me, the best time to visit the beach is sunrise or sunset.  It is such a spiritual experience.

In the morning, I am usually alone.  Just me, my camera, the birds, and possible a lone fisherman, trying his luck.

At sunset, you may not be alone, but in a group of spectators standing in awe as the sun sinks into the sea.

Both experiences will enrich your day.

Abstract Seascape Painting, 8x16" Palette Knife Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting SOLD

We are happy to be back in Florida, and I wanted to mark the occassion with a new abstract.

SOLD
I really enjoyed creating this art.  Sometimes it is nice to just get in the zone, no particular plan, and let the subconscious take over.

I love playing with paint and these represent some of my favorite colors.  I didn't plan to do a seascape, but it feels like one, especially of the tropical waters in the Caribbean Islands.

The last few months have been hectic for me.  This is just what I needed to calm me down.

Have a great day and thanks for reading my blog.
