Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, Seascape with Sunset, 6x8" Oil SOLD

Another in my long fascination with oceans and, or, sunrise/sunset paintings.  I am not sure why I am so attracted to them, but I am!

SOLD

I always enjoy playing with thick paint!  I have been accused of being that person who "plays with her food".  Wrong!

For whatever reason, the process and the results please me....and that is my goal.

Pear and Plum Still Life, Palette Knife Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, 6x8" Oil on canvas panel, sold

Have not done a still life, or a palette knife painting for a while, so this one was in my comfort zone.

SOLD

I naturally tend to lean towards cool colors, so I had fun working all my favorite color relationships.

This scene is a repaint, from years ago.  I couldn't find the original photograph, but I did have a photo of the first painting, so I used that as a guide.  The first painting was done with a brush, which is why I decided to mix it up a little, by using a palette knife this time around.

Hope you enjoy it!

Abstract Sunset Painting, Textured Sunset Painting,SOLD, Small Oil Painting, Daily Painting, 8x8x1.5" Original Oil

I didn't mean to paint this!  I decided to do an abstract, with nothing in particular in mind, and almost without my help, this sunset appeared.

SOLD
Sunsets are one of my recurring themes and it just kind of happened before I knew it.  Usually it does not happen that way for me.  Usually, I struggle, I scrape, I try and try again.  Sometimes I pull it off to my liking....sometimes I do not.

So on those few occassions, when I am happy without the anguish, I say a little "thank you" and put away my paints for the day.

Thanks for visiting my blog today.

Textured Seascape Painting, Palette Knife Oil, Small Oil Painting, Daily Painting, 20x24" SOLD

I wanted to do a seascape, or actually a beach painting, somewhere between an abstract and impressionism.

SOLD

I wanted to record just my memories and impressions of trips to the beach.  I painted with a knife and tried to work quickly.

I tried not to think too much about the colors I was using or where I was putting them, but tried to keep it really instinctive.

I wanted plenty of texture in this piece.

It was a fun exercise!

Although this painting has sold, it is available as a giclee print on canvas or distressed wood planks.  Contact me for sizes and pricing.

Abstract Landscape Palette Knife Art, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, 8x8x3" Original

I found some square 3 inch deep canvases in my studio, and decided to play around with one.

SOLD

I tried several approaches, but nothing was working for me.  So, I just started playing with paint and my palette knife.  I was envisioning  a sunset over the landscape, choosing colors that "felt" right for me.

You can see how deep the canvas is in this pic.  I actually love these big clunky canvases on shelves rather than walls, and I like the feel of the rough clunky paint.

All in all, it was a fun painting day.

Wildlife Painting, Tropical Fish Painting, Palette Knife Painting, 9x12x.75" Oil

While unpacking, after moving from Florida to North Carolina, I found a few paintings that were never posted.

This one was inspired by a trip to Key Largo, a few years ago.  One of the highlights of the trip, was a cruise to the coral reefs.

Purchase here
I enjoy painting water with a palette knife and I love texture in a painting.  This piece has both.

Enjoy!

Abstract Seascape Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, 6x8" Textured Art, SOLD

This small seascape is a study for a much larger piece.  The only question in my mind is "How large?"

SOLD
I am very happy with the understated color which makes the brighter hues really pop.  I am not sure if it would be call an abstract or impressionistic.......what do you think?

What I do know, I really enjoyed painting it and want to try it again and go BIG!

Thanks for reading my blog today.
