Tree painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, 6x8" Oil Landscape SOLD

We are rather tree challenged here in Florida.  We have beautiful palm trees, but when it comes to the huge leafy trees of my childhood, in the north, not so much.

Enter the live oak.  It's big, not really that leafy, but long, long beautiful branches, often draped with Spanish moss.

SOLD
This one is just a baby, but I couldn't resist painting it as it seemed to glow in the sunshine.

I painted with a combination of palette knife and brush which gave it a yummy texture.

I want to do more tree studies.  They are all so unique and so beautiful.

Thanks for viewing my art today.

Not so much in Florida, of course, but the mountains of North Carolina have given me new respect for winter.

Small Seascape, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, "Churning", 6x8" Oil SOLD

This small seascape is a study for a much larger piece.  The only question in my mind is "How large?"

SOLD
I am very happy with the understated color which makes the brighter hues really pop.  I am not sure if it would be call an abstract or impressionistic.......what do you think?

What I do know, I really enjoyed painting it and want to try it again and go BIG!

Thanks for reading my blog today.

Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, Seascape with Sunset, 6x8" Oil SOLD

Another in my long fascination with oceans and, or, sunrise/sunset paintings.  I am not sure why I am so attracted to them, but I am!

SOLD

I always enjoy playing with thick paint!  I have been accused of being that person who "plays with her food".  Wrong!

For whatever reason, the process and the results please me....and that is my goal.

Flower Painting, Iris Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, 6x8" on Canvas Panel

I spent most of the spring in the mountains of North Carolina, surrounded by flowers everywhere.  They must have the perfect environment for flowers, and I loved every minute of it.  This is one of the beautiful iris' I photographed during my stay.

purchase here
I had a difficult time getting this painting to the finishing point, but turns out, my real struggle was in trying to get a decent photograph of it.  I find that blues and greens tend me merge when photographed, especially blues.  I took many photos of this painting, under different conditions, but I believe many of the subtle color changes were lost.  Note to self:  Don't do blue and green paintings, and don't do very dark paintings.....also impossible (for me) to photograph well.

In any event, thanks for viewing my art today.

Abstract Painting, Four Seasons Art, Summer Painting, Daily Painting Small Oil Painting, 4x12x.75" Oil

Last week, I posted my "Spring" painting in my new Four Seasons Series.  Today is my impression of summer.

Purchase here

Are you old enough to remember the Four Seasons series, usually some type of wall decor, and almost always involving a tree in each of the seasons of the year?  My goal was to use only color to represent each season.

In this piece, I thought of bright blue skies, long hot summer days, turquoise seas, pink sunsets.  I created plenty of texture for added interest.

Two more seasons to do!!

Have a great day, in any season.

I've had an exhausting two months.  We left for our 2nd home in North Carolina the end of August, and returned home to Florida Nov.1  I had 12 hours at home, before I left for 5 wonderful days in a workshop with the fabulous painter, Elio Camacho.  Pure Heaven!

Elio is a charming and knowledgeable instructor and gives all his students an incredible amount of information and attention.  I am looking forward to his next series of Florida workshops in the spring.

Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, Rose Still Life, Small Floral Still Life, "Mother's Rose" by Carol Schiff, 6x8" Oil

On this small oil painting, I tried to capture the beauty and feel of this lovely flower, without being too worried about duplicating the actual image. I painted with a knife and worked hard to keep my colors clean and my strokes pure. The knife has left a lot of texture to the piece that makes you want to reach out a touch it. I think it has a wild feel, which is just what I was working towards. The colors of pinks, purples and greens work well together with a touch of orange.

I thoroughly  enjoyed this painting, so much so, that I painted a second in the same manner.  I will post the second painting next week.  I plan to try more of the same in the future.
