Autumn Maple Tree Landscape Painting, Palette Knife Technique, Asheville Fall Foliage Art, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting

It's that time of year and we are soon on our way to Asheville to see the gorgeous fall foliage.  So....I got inspired to paint this piece from an image of our own red maple tree.

Purchase Here

The trees are beautiful at any time of year, but they really glow in the fall.

I felt it deserved a textured palette knife treatment, which I think really adds to the finished piece.

Enjoy!

A Beach Day Palette Knife Oil Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, Textured Landscape Artwork, Beach House Decor

I am back working with my palette knife again.  Something about the thick paint and texture is very satisfying to me.

This makes me want to get to the beach..........quickly!

Thanks for checking in today.

Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, Small Seascape, "Celebrating Blue" by Carol Schiff, 6x8" Oil SOLD

I worked this small seascape with a knife, trying to mimic the action of the waves with my strokes.

SOLD
I usually work from images on my computer, but this time the image was in my head.  I tried to fill the canvas with shades of blues and greens, and also to suggest a little of the beach.

MY PRINTS
I feel I captured the spirit of the waves rushing to shore, and I must say, it was a most enjoyable experience.  I plan to try this technique again.

Beach Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, "Caribbean" by Carol Schiff, 16x20,1.5" Oil SOLD

Have you ever been to the Islands?  In Florida "the Islands" can only mean one thing.....any of those gorgeous, laid-back, tropical paradise places starting with the Abaco's Islands to the north and extending down the coast of South American to Granada.

The water color is amazing and I never get tired of gazing at it.  The air is hot and sultry, everyone moves in slow motion.......island time.  The people are amazing and you feel like you are living in a Ernest Hemingway novel.

Once we spent a week on Eleuthera  with our grown childen,  and every morning one of our neighbors would leave a fresh pineapple on our porch.  Yummy, best Pina Colada ever!  We would walk to the bakery every morning for fresh Bahama bread for our breakfast.  In the afternoons, the entire island population would gather on the dock to buy fresh fish.  The fishermen would lay their catch on the dock and the housewives would gather around to pick their dinner.

Every day we found another isolated, beautiful beach to enjoy.  Evenings were spent sitting on the porch, laughing, enjoying each other.  It was a throw back to another, simpler life and we all enjoyed it immensely.

Seascape Painting, Palette Knife Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, 6x8" Textured Seascape

I wanted to do a seascape, or actually a beach painting, somewhere between an abstract and impressionism.

SOLD

I wanted to record just my memories and impressions of trips to the beach.  I painted with a knife and tried to work quickly.

I tried not to think too much about the colors I was using or where I was putting them, but tried to keep it really instinctive.

I wanted plenty of texture in this piece.

It was a fun exercise!

Thanks for viewing my blog today.
