Expressionist Abstract Seascape, Sunset Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, Free Shipping in USA

For me, the best time to visit the beach is sunrise or sunset.  It is such a spiritual experience.

Purchase Here

In the morning, I am usually alone.  Just me, my camera, the birds, and possible a lone fisherman, trying his luck.

At sunset, you may not be alone, but in a group of spectators, standing in awe, as the sun sinks into the sea.

Both experiences will enrich your day.

Flower Painting, Daisy Painting, Small Oil Painting, Daily Painting, Palette Knife Painting, 12x12x1.5" Original Oil

This is another painting from Savannah's Lafayette Square.  Surrounding the beautiful fountain, in the park, were a bed a daisies.

Purchase here

I decided to paint with a palette knife, to best describe the tangle of greenery.

I wanted a lively painting, that would give the feeling of the blooms.   I always think of daisies, as cheerful, so I started by painting the ground with cad red.......lots of contrast!

Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, Palette Knife Painting, Fish and Flowers

My studio moving sale is over.  I want to thank everyone who purchased art from me during this sale.  As you know, I moved from Florida to North Carolina, and it was important for me to lower my inventory.

I am happy to announce.....the sale was a success!!

Today, I am posting a couple of my favorites, that are still available.

Thanks for viewing my blog today

When I was a child, growing up in Ohio, this was my dream.  Tropical waters, palm trees, sailboats.  I am blessed that my dreams came true.

I always want to put a little texture in my paintings.  My palette knife is my favorite tool.

Small Oil Painting, Daily Painting, Seascape, "Pacific Blue" 4x12" SOLD

Most of my seascapes are from the Atlantic, or the Caribbean, but today I am visiting the Pacific.

Purchase here
SOLD

My reference photo was taken a few years ago on a trip to California with my daughter and granddaughter. We were in San Francisco most of the trip, but one afternoon we drove south to Half Moon Bay.

For us east coasters, the Pacific was an untamed beast, quite different from our usually gentle Atlantic.  Just that fact that we were peering down from a cliff and that the brave souls who ventured to the beach were all ON THE SHORE was foreign.  Not that we do not have sunbathers on the shore, but there are ALWAYS bathers or surfers in the water, even on the coldest of days.

I decided to use a palette knife on this scene to help capture the power  and texture.

Small Landscape Painting, Cabin in the Woods, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, 6x8" oil on panel

This is a small painting I did last fall.  We have moved from Florida to North Carolina, and this one was overlooked in the craziness of an interstate move.   Deep breath......it is all over now!

Purchase here

I often passed this cabin, on my daily walks.  I am always inspired by the beauty surrounding me during my walks.  The cabin looked so charming, nestled in the trees, with spots of sunlight hitting it.

This piece is a combination of brush and palette knife.

I have gone without painting for several months due to my move.  I am anxious to return to my new (small) studio, and begin this new version of my daily routine.  I hope I remember how to paint!

Thanks for viewing!

What could be more beautiful than a sunset, except maybe a sunset over the sea.

I knew right away I was going to have to paint this one.

I used both a brush and a palette knife on this one.....had to get a little texture in there.

I feel like I want a Margarita every time I look at this one....right away I am on island time.

Hope you find a way to relax a little today, too.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Abstract Seascape | Daily Painting | "Tropical Blues" by Carol Schiff | 6x8" Oil SOLD

When I lived close to the sea, I found that it turned up in my painting in both a representative and non-representative form.  I guess this little daily painting falls somewhere between the two.

SOLD

I painted this with a palette knife.  I like texture and feel it adds additional interest to my art.  I was thinking about the beautiful greens and blues of the tropical waters off the coast of Florida.  Further south they turn the most amazing shades of azure, but that will be another painting.

I almost always show my paintings in black frames.  It would be hard to find an artwork that would not work well with black and it just makes the colors pop.

This is worked with a palette knife.  I enjoy lots of texture, so I left it on this piece.  Maybe it is more of a skyscape?   Maybe it is more abstract or impressionistic?  Whatever it is, it reflects my mood at the time, which I think, is the point of painting.
